Holding on to Hope

Hope. By definition : to cherish a desire with anticipation : to want something to happen or be true. (Merriam. Or Webster!)

Holding on to Hope. The act of grasping, keeping, retaining the afore mentioned. (me) — More than four simple words forming a catchy phrase. For this sickly-adult-female-person these words represent sincere feelings, wants, pure passion of significant value.

Desires and deep hopefulness take on many different colors, shapes, and sizes. Hope is an important must have for every living being. Focusing on and clinging to uplifting, optimistic wishes and emotions helps to keep us moving forward. (As long as it’s not in a creeper sort of way!)

Approaching yet another proverbial fork in the road on this looong illness-treatment-healing-repeat journey, I’m definitely holding on tightly to the hope of positive outcomes.

Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness. -Desmond Tutu

In a previous Blathering, I shared where peptide injections had been added to my daily treatment protocol. Roughly three weeks following this additional therapy, fatigue seemed to lessen. Tiny steps forward, but such a welcomed blessing!

As improvements happen, like anyone coping with illness, I’ll be grabbing ahold tightly – with both hands. And praying for more to come.

Holding on to Hope Campaign

To help share the message of Hope, I designed an uplifting tee and started a shirt campaign. I know what you’re thinking. Really? Another t-shirt campaign?!  How many shirts does one person need?!

I feel you. But here’s the dealio, these tees have meaning. Each design I create comes from personal reflection, emotion, growth, and expression. Purpose! Also referred to as “meaning to my madness”!

The following is from my Holding on to Hope site:

ABOUT THIS CAMPAIGN

My friends, the road to wellness can indeed be lengthy – and oh so bumpy. I can’t even begin to wrap my mind around the number of children and adults fighting illness and personal battles – all around this gigantic globe. Each holding on to Hope of one day reaching remission, recovery; gaining the ability to walk, speak, hear, see for the first time; to live another day.
.
My battles pale in comparison to so many. Yet, as small as my struggles may seem, they remain present – and relentlessly real.
.
In an earlier post (18 Months Post Stem Cells), I made reference to the multiple layers involved in addressing persistent – debilitating symptoms, autoimmune conditions, lingering viruses and infections that come with: late-stage, persistent (chronic) Lyme disease; multiple co-infections; MCAS; mold illness (CIRS); various gene mutations that derail and complicate the healing process. All combined have progressively been wreaking havoc within this body of mine – accumulatively – throughout the past four decades.
.
Travels to Los Angeles for exosomes and supportive therapies has been the most recent addition to my treatment plan. The hopeful purpose behind these therapies: to address the most significant debilitating layers/symptoms. Unexpected layers that have had me mostly bed-bound.
.

Sharing the Message. Purpose! This uplifting Holding on to Hope tee was designed not only to represent my path, but for others needing to grab ahold and not let go of Hope.

.
A small portion of each tee purchased will generously and graciously go toward helping to chip away at what seems like never-ending, out-of-pocket expenses involved with my on-going medical care.
.
Due to the current antiquated guidelines set in place by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA) on Lyme disease, most of my medical care is not covered by insurance. Hopefully, this will not always be the case. Advocates and legislators are actively fighting on behalf of Lyme patients. As a result, in some eastern states, laws are being passed to include medical coverage of long-term treatments for Lyme disease. Improvements indeed! However, a challenging battle still remains for the Lyme community as a whole. I’m holding on to Hope that forward strides will continue at national and global levels for continued research, development of reliable testing and advanced treatments – reimbursable by insurance, and improved quality of life for all suffering with Lyme and Tick-borne diseases.
.
There truly is light at the end of this trying, tedious, treatment tunnel. I’ll reach it one day. Hopefully everyone suffering with illness will reach it too…that moment when wellness is in full grasp.
